Hi Spencies!
Art has always been important to me as it soothes my soul and stimulates my mind. Not only have I taken classes in multiple art disciplines but also have chased exhibits around the world. I remember my 6 year old self as a curious lower school girl mesmerized by the colorful Regarding Warhol exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 2014, I had the opportunity to visit Jeff Koons: A Retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art with my mother. I loved it so much that I asked my father to take me to see it again a few weeks later. I was 10 years old in 2017 when I ventured to the town of Figueres in Spain to spend hours studying the surrealist art at the Salvador Dalí Museum.
The pandemic hit and disrupted the Kusama: Cosmic Nature exhibition which was originally planned for the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx in the summer of 2020. However, I was able to take in the wonders of Yayoi Kusama in April 2021 when it was rescheduled. Kusama’s works were so magical that I did not even mind holding an umbrella above me for several hours as the rain poured down soaking even my socks.
As the school year ends and summer approaches a few current and upcoming exhibits for you to explore include:
